8 YEARS OF PILATES EXPERIENCE
When I was 22, I broke my tailbone in a car accident. There is no way to treat it and doctors told me it would heal naturally on its own. Being so young I thought it was insignificant so I did nothing.
After time, I noticed that because of it, my lower back sticks out and my body posture was misaligned. I was constantly feeling pain in my lower back and was diagnosed with having a ruptured disc, a pelvic turn, and a reversed C-curved neck into a straight spine. My broken tailbone had caused excessive tension on my spine, and my pelvis was twisted in large due to the accident, but also from bad habits like crossing my legs and general overall bad posture. In the process of healing my tailbone, my pelvis and spine over compensated and that resulted in me having neck problems.
I realised that our bodies are all deeply interconnected and that one small pain can cause a cascade of problems. At the same time I realised how important proper alignment and balance of the body is. That is when I found Pilates.
It was through Pilates as a rehabilitation exercise that I have now corrected my pelvis and regained a healthy S line of my spine and neck. I have not only corrected my body through Pilates, but also feel more energetic mentally and physically. Pilates has helped me to clear my mind and helped me in my performance of various kinds of sports.
My goal is to share the changes in my life brought through Pilates so that everyone can enjoy the benefits of it. For a happier and healthier tomorrow, let’s do Pilates today.
22살, 교통사고로 꼬리뼈가 부러졌습니다. 가벼운 부상이라 생각했으나 꼬리뼈에 가해진 충격으로 척추는 일자로 섰고 골반은 틀어졌으며 그렇게 골반, 척추에 문제가 생기면서 거북목이 됐습니다.
이를 교정하기 위해 필라테스를 시작했습니다. 척추를 중심으로 틀어진 부분을 하나하나 맞춰가면서 우리의 몸은 모두 연결되어 있고 작은 불편함 하나가 여러 가지 다른 문제들을 일으킬 수 있다는 것을 깨달았습니다. 그렇기에 단순히 아픈 부위를 치료하는 것뿐만 아니라 전체적인 신체의 균형과 몸의 바른 정렬을 맞추는 것이 무척 중요하다는 것을 깨달았습니다.
이후 필라테스를 통해 몸의 중심이 바로 서고 몸을 보다 효율적으로 사용할 수 있게 되면서 체력도 더 좋아지고 자잘한 통증으로 고통받는 일이 없어졌습니다. 평소 즐겨 하던 운동들도 더 잘하게 되고 일에도 집중하기 쉬워졌습니다.
필라테스를 통해 가져온 제 삶의 변화를 많은 사람들과 함께 공유하고 싶습니다. 보다 더 행복하고 건강한 내일을 위해, 우리 오늘 필라테스 합시다.

14 YEARS OF PILATES EXPERIENCE
I played basketball for more than 15 years before I became a Pilates instructor. Because of basketball, I have always frequented the hospital and rehabilitation centres because of various injuries from the sport. I was in constant pain from multiple injuries such as a herniated disk, dislocation, and fracture.
I’ve tried several treatments but I haven’t been able to see any improvement. Then, I started Pilates as a form of rehabilitation and noticed that I began using new muscles that I don’t usually use. From there, I could slowly feel my body getting stronger and the pain from my injuries gradually going away.
I was fascinated by Pilates, so I gave up my profession as a basketball player and got my Pilates instructor training certificate. Through Pilates, I was able to recover from my injuries. I want to share my experience with Pilates with many people.
저는 15년간 농구선수로 활동했습니다. 선수 생활을 하며 고된 훈련과 시합으로 허리디스크, 탈골, 골절 등 수많은 부상에 시달렸고, 그 때문에 끊임없는 재활 치료를 받아야 했습니다.
이때 재활치료의 일환으로 필라테스를 접하게 되었고 평소 농구나 웨이트 트레이닝에서 사용하지 않는 새로운 근육들을 사용하는 법을 배웠습니다. 필라테스를 시작한 지 몇 주가 지나자 신기하게도 몸 깊은 곳부터 힘이 차오르는 느낌과 동시에 부상의 통증이 줄어든 것을 느낄 수 있었습니다.
이런 계기로 필라테스의 매력에 푹 빠지게 되었고 프로농구팀 생활을 포기하고 필라테스 강사 교육을 듣게 되었습니다.
필라테스로 인해서 저는 부상의 고통에서 벗어나 웃음을 되찾을 수 있었습니다. 저의 경험을 바탕으로 많은 분들께 필라테스를 통해 웃음을 드리고 싶습니다.

My first experience of Pilates was as a pre-natal client, and I resumed Pilates classes after delivery. As someone who’s a self-confessed gym rat until baby came along, Pilates seemed pretty easy at first. However, I soon realised that I needed focus and awareness to become good at Pilates practice, something that I hadn’t brought to my fitness journey before.
On completing formal Pilates training, I’ve continued to appreciate how useful these principles of mindful movement are in our everyday lives and how applying the ideas of breath, focus, centring, control, precision and flow make you a better, more efficient mover in all other forms of exercise from running, tennis and golf to martial arts even!
Contrary to popular belief, Pilates is not just for people who have suffered injury or are experiencing chronic pain. I firmly believe that Pilates benefits everyone regardless of age, lifestyle, or activity level.

I started out as a client with the intention of improving my poor posture caused by muscular imbalances and bad habits, such as slouching. This was further aggravated during my work as an air stewardess years ago, where I stood for prolonged periods of time and lifted heavy objects without proper technique. All of which makes me feel insecure in my own skin.
I developed a greater sense of body awareness and confidence through consistent Pilates practice. Pilates does more than conditioning the body and preventing injuries; it also improves overall mental well-being.
I experienced the benefits of Pilates first-hand and would love to share the joy through teaching. I am committed to helping you progress in your Pilates journey – you will definitely develop a more conscious awareness of what your body does and how it feels.

I’m Dixin, a certified STOTT Pilates instructor and I’ve been practising Pilates for nearly 10 years.
I’ve always been intrigued by movement from a young age, primarily by how bodies flow in space, responding to music, rhythm, and their internal cadence. I actively pursued ballet and other contemporary dance forms, revelling in their rigours for the better part of two decades.
While training for my ballet exams, I discovered Pilates – it helped me better understand and regain the control I needed to execute the dance moves and realign my body after the strain of dance training. I appreciated how Pilates can help bodies achieve increased mobility and strength, and most importantly, alignment and centeredness.
As an instructor, I am passionate about spreading the joy Pilates has given me by helping people (re)discover their movement potential and to move through their daily lives pain-free.

I was whisked into the world of Pilates in 2013 and have since been fascinated by the practice of it. It is a lifelong learning journey.
I was in bad physical shape in my early 20s and could barely do a proper sit-up and stretch! I dislocated my knee during a rollerblading session, and through Pilates, I’ve gained strength in flexibility and more control of my body. Pilates has also made me more confident to try other forms of fitness.

Hello! I am Janice. I have enjoyed ballet since I was three and stopped for personal reasons. While seeking the joy I had from dancing, a relative of mine introduced me to Pilates, and ever since taking up classes, it has sparked the same kind of joy in me again. I have seen its benefits in realigning my posture and becoming stronger.

As a mental health advocate, I also saw how Pilates could help one feel better physically and mentally. It improves one’s body condition and helps regain confidence through movements and mind and body connection. I am passionate about sharing the benefits of Pilates with everyone.

My class is fun and active with the love of focusing on posture, core and arms. Everyone is welcome to give Pilates a try.

Hi, I’m Melanie, and I’m a qualified STOTT Pilates instructor. My journey into the world of Pilates teaching has been a fulfilling one. With a rich background in luxury PR and marketing, I made a significant career transition that shifted my focus from the fast-paced glitz of high fashion to the mindful, enriching practice of Pilates and wellness. This transition was deeply rooted in my passion for wellness and helping others find strength and balance within themselves.

My love affair with Pilates began long before my professional training, as a long-time practitioner of yoga and mat Pilates since my early teenage years. However, it was through a knee injury sustained during a yoga session that I truly discovered the transformative power of Pilates.
Currently, I am on a pursuit to further deepen my understanding of the body and wellness by training to become a Certified Nutrition and Wellness Coach. My international background — having lived in London, Kuala Lumpur, Taipei, Hong Kong, Shanghai, Melbourne, and now Singapore — also enriches my approach to wellness and helps me connect with clients from all walks of life.

In my classes, I emphasise the importance of proper alignment and mindful muscle engagement. Whether you’re a seasoned practitioner or new to pilates, you can look forward to an experience that is not only rewarding but also tailored to meet your unique needs and goals. I strive to create an empowering and nurturing space where every client is encouraged to reap the benefits of Pilates and discover the joy of movement.
